Alesha Bayiha: Perseverance, Excellence, and Hope for the Future

For Alesha Bayiha, teaching mathematics at Celeste High School is about far more than numbers and equations. It is about perseverance, resilience, and creating opportunities — both for her students and for her own family. Through her dedication in the classroom, Alesha earned a Teacher Incentive Allotment distinction, a recognition that came at exactly the right moment in her life.
When she learned last February that she had received her designation, the news was overwhelming in the best possible way. “I was literally in tears,” she shared. At the time, her family was navigating a major financial hardship after her husband lost his job just before Christmas. Although the allotment would not arrive until months later, simply knowing it was coming brought relief and renewed hope during an incredibly difficult season.
Now, as her family continues working their way out of that financial strain, Alesha says the increased allotment coming this August has helped them finally begin to see light at the end of the tunnel. Her story is a powerful reminder that recognizing great teachers does not just impact classrooms — it impacts entire families and futures.
Even while facing personal challenges, Alesha has remained focused on growth and opportunity. Looking ahead, she plans to use her future allotment to continue her own education by pursuing graduate school and working toward a degree in administration. Her commitment to learning and leadership reflects the same determination she encourages in her students every day.
Alesha’s journey is one of quiet strength, perseverance, and hope. Celeste ISD is proud to celebrate not only her excellence as a teacher, but the incredible resilience and dedication she brings to every part of her life.
