The last couple of weeks of a school year can be very hectic.  Celeste High School art teacher, Crawford Moore, knows that fact very well, but aside from all the craziness that takes place, there are some amazing things being accomplished in his art classes.  It all started in 2017 when several senior AP art students painted the now famous Texas flag mural on an old building in downtown Celeste.  The painting has attracted many motorists passing through town to pull over and take pictures and appreciate the landmark masterpiece.   Art students also painted the flower pots that sit in front of the town businesses.  Realizing what a difference these projects had made, the art classes set out to create another town work of art.  This time, the front of the Hickory Creek SUD was transformed into a farm scene complete with a barn, windmill and cacti.

The student led project proved to be bigger than they had imagined, and the students had to work overtime to get it completed by the end of school.  Many of these students also are on the Celeste yearbook staff, so in addition to painting the town mural, they were pressed to get the finishing touches put on the yearbook which had a publishing deadline.  Not only did the art students paint the town, they also painted murals on the walls in the elementary cafeteria for the younger students to enjoy!  All the hard work involved in painting the mural did not go unrecognized.  To the surprise of the students, Mr. Moore got an exciting call from WFAA-TV Channel 8 news reporter, Sean Giggy.   Mr. Giggy and his crew made arrangements to come see the murals.  After spending several hours interviewing Mr. Moore and his art students, Mr. Giggy had the information he needed to air the special during the morning news segment on May 30.  The link to the video can be accessed below:
