Each fall members of the Celeste FFA begin preparing for the leadership development competitions. During these events, FFA members demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization.
Celeste FFA attended several practice meets. They participated in the Texas A&M University – Commerce and Alba-Golden leadership invitational competitions. At the Alba-Golden contest, the Greenhand Chapter Conducting placed 4th overall and the Senior Skills team placed 3rd overall. Paris Walker placed 2nd overall in the Greenhand Creed Speaking Contest and Kloe Walker placed 2nd overall in the Job Interview Contest.
The District 2 FFA Leadership Contest was held at Greenville High School on November 11, 2019. Celeste FFA took 10 teams to the contest. First and second place teams moved on to the Area 5 FFA leadership contest. Placings were as follows: Greenhand Creed speaking - 1st; Greenhand Chapter Conducting - 1st; Job Interview - 1st; Senior Chapter Conducting - 1st; Senior Quiz - 1st; Senior Skills team - 2nd; Radio Broadcast - 3rd; Ag Advocacy- 3rd; Senior Creed Speaking - 9th.
The Area 5 FFA Leadership Contest was held at Bells High School on November 20, 2019. Teams from all over North Texas that advanced past their district contest were there to compete. The top 2 teams move on to state and the top 5 teams receive banners. Placings are as follows: Greenhand Creed - 4th; Senior Chapter Conducting - 5th; Senior Skills - 5th; Greenhand Chapter Conducting - 6th; Job Interview - 10th; Senior Quiz - 13th.
