GARY CASEY ADVANCES TO STATE IN UIL PROSE INTERPRETATION! - April 25, 2016

On Friday, April 22, 2016, Katie Gatliff and Ashley Baker competed in Regional Poetry Interpretation and Nathanael Nix and Gary Casey competed in the Regional Prose Interpretation competition.  The Region II-2A competition was held at Grayson College in Denison, Texas.  Gary advanced in the preliminary round to compete in the finals.  He placed 3rd overall in the final round and advanced to state competition.  According to Celeste High School English teacher and prose coach, Rhonda Hackler, the prose team has truly had very talented individuals participate over the years.  In 2013, Frances Wilgus won the UIL Conference 1A Prose Interpretation State Championship, and in 2015, Jordan Compton was awarded 4th place overall and was the first alternate for the state competition.   Also placing 5th overall at regionals in 2015 was Lindsay Thompson.  Gary will compete at the state competition which will be held at the University of Texas, May 24 and 25.
