Junior High Principal's Message 3/21/13 |
testing letterMarch 21, 2013 March 20, 2013 Dear Parents, On Tuesday and Wednesday, April 2 and 3, we will be administering the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR tests). Students in grade 7 will be taking the writing test. Students in grade 8 will be taking the math and reading tests. Students must pass the reading and math tests in 8th grade before being promoted to the next grade level. STAAR tests for other subjects and grade levels will take place April 23-25. All results will be posted on your child’s Academic Achievement Record. The STAAR is a state-mandated assessment instrument. STAAR tests have a 4 hour time limit. It is necessary for students to be present and on time for these tests. Please refrain from scheduling conflicting appointments. If you have a previous appointment, please re-schedule it so your child will not be distracted. Distractions will hamper his/her ability to perform successfully. Make sure your child is well rested and begins the day with a nutritious breakfast and a positive outlook. Students in grade 6 will not be testing on April 2 and 3. They are NOT required to arrive at school until 1:00 (12:30 if they need to eat lunch here). Students needing to come at regular time, due to transportation, should report to the jr high cafeteria. If you have any questions, please feel free to call your child’s teacher or me. Thank you for your help in making this testing day a success. Sincerely, Staci Beadles |
