HOCO 2023

Congratulations to the following seniors for being elected to the 2023 Celeste High School Homecoming Court:  Kendall Hanson, Melanie Otero, Jahdia Sanchez, Cash Ottwell, Toby Minter, and Tanner Minter.  Cash Ottwell and Melanie Otero were selected as the 2023 Celeste High School Homecoming King and Queen.  The big announcement was made during the halftime show on Friday, September 22, 2023.

Homecoming King Cash Ottwell is the son of Matt and Lauren Ottwell. Cash has played football for the past 4 years.  He is currently one of the captains on the team.  He was awarded Second Team All-District the last two years.  He has participated in tennis for 3 years and track for 4 years.  Cash has competed in powerlifting for 2 years.  Last year he was a regional qualifier and placed 4th. He has been in Ag Mechanics the last 4 years.  He plans to work in metal fabrication for MSM Mechanical following high school graduation.  

Homecoming Queen Melanie Otero is the daughter of Roman and Teresa Otero.  Melanie has been on the drill team and played basketball for 3 years.  She ran cross country and has been on the track team for 2 years. Melanie has played tennis for 2 years.  After high school Melanie plans on joining the Airforce.  She plans to continue her education in the field of radiology.      

Homecoming King Nominee Tanner Minter is the son of Jason and Kelly Minter. Tanner has played football for 4 years.  He was awarded Defensive Newcomer of the year as a sophomore. As a junior he was awarded CHS football MVP, All State Linebacker and 1st Team Inside Linebacker.  He is a football captain this year.  Tanner has played basketball for 4 years and was the Defensive MVP as a junior.  He has also participated in baseball for 1 year and tennis for 2 years.  Tanner has been a member of the track team for 4 years.  He was a regional qualifier in the long jump last year.  Tanner has participated in FFA Ag Mechanics for 4 years.  Tanner plans to have a career in welding following graduation.  

Homecoming King Nominee Toby Minter is the son of Trevor and Carrie Minter. Toby has played on the football team for the past 4 years and is a captain this year. As a junior Toby was awarded Defensive MVP, 2nd Team All District Inside Linebacker, and Academic All District for football.  Toby has played basketball for 4 years.  His awards include Honorable Mention All-District and Academic All District.  He has participated in FFA and FCA for 4 years.  He has played tennis and baseball for 2 years and been on the track team for 4 years. Toby plans to work in metal fabrication following high school.  

Homecoming Queen Nominee Jahdia Sanchez is the daughter of Yasmani and Yolanda Sanchez.  She has been a part of the drill team for 4 years.  She is currently a captain.  Jahdai holds the office of FFA Reporter for the Celeste chapter.  She has been on the track team for 4 years and a member of the powerlifting team for 2 years.  Jahdai competed in the “Voice of Hunt County”.  She advanced to the final round of 3 contestants.  She is singing the National Anthem at our home football games this season.  Jahdai wants to pursue a career in digital sonography and radiology.  

Homecoming Queen Nominee Kendall Hanson is the daughter of John and Crystal Hanson.   Kendall has been a varsity cheerleader for 4 years and a captain for 2. She has been a class officer for 3 years. Kendall has been an active member of the Beta Club and FCA for 4 and an officer for 1 year.   She has played basketball and has run cross country for 4 years.  The last 3 years she has been a regional qualifier for cross country. Kendall has been class favorite 3 times.  Last year she was chosen as CHS Most Athletic. She was Assistant Editor of the yearbook her junior year.  Kendall plans to attend college and pursue a career in sports medicine.
