Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship Program

Since 1984, the Horatio Alger Association has awarded over $159 million in college scholarships to deserving students. Applicants can receive up to $2,500 to pursue career and technical education. Visit application.horatioalger.org to apply. First priority deadline will be June 15, 2019.

 

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 31st class in 2019, the Foundation has provided over 6,150 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $69 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. The application for this program is now closed and will reopen on August 1, 2019 for students who are high school seniors at that time.

The Burger King Scholars Program

Created in memory of BURGER KING® Co-founder James “Jim” W. McLamore, the BURGER KINGâ„  Scholars program has awarded $35 million in scholarships to more than 33,000 high school students, BK® employees and their families across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico since 2000. In 2018 alone, the Foundation awarded $3.7 million to more than 3,400 students in North America.

Scholarship grants range from $1,000 to $50,000 and are intended to help students offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. Recipients are selected based on their grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities and community service.

The application period for the 2019-2020 school year begins on Oct. 15, 2019 and closes Dec. 15, 2019.

Texas State University Assured Scholarships

Texas State University now offers three Assured Scholarships, which are guaranteed to all qualified students and are renewable for four years. You don’t need to apply—these are awarded automatically to every student whose academic record meets the required qualifications. The three scholarships:

President’s Honor Scholarship – $26,000--$38,000 total over four years

Texas State Achievement Scholarship--$10,000 – $22,000 total over four years

Texas State Distinguished Scholarship – $6,000 – $10,000 total over four years

Raising Texas Teachers Program

The Charles Butt Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers is available to prospective teachers who are currently in, or plan to enter, an eligible teacher preparation program at a Raising Texas Teachers partner university. Aspiring Teachers can apply in the fall of any year between their senior year of high school and junior year of college. 

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be committed to teaching in a majority-economically disadvantaged school or in a shortage subject area (in a school where more than 50% of students are eligible for free or reduced lunch, or as a math, science, bilingual, or special education teacher) in a Texas public school. Preference is given to Texas residents. The application opens soon, so check it out here.
